After studying Italy for much of this half term we are moving onto hazards in Italy, namely volcanoes and earthquakes and how the Italian people live with them. However to understand volcanoes and earthquakes we need to examine the theory of plate tectonics so click here now to find out more about the earth's processes through these series of animated diagrams. Did you know? Between 1992 and 2001 satellites photographed the crater of Mount Etna Volcanoe in Sicily, Italy and over this period of time the volcano appeared to be breathing as the magma underneath the volcano rose and fell up to 24 cm. To see this totally amazing footage, click here now!
Year 8 have been studying Europe for much of the first half term, but have also been studying beach processes such as fetch, prevailing and dominant winds, wave formation, longshore drift and beach profiles.
